About Us

This magazine was initiated by two women seeking to explore a culture outside of their own. Knowing the diverse population that makes up Russia as a result of the vast region that once was the Soviet Union, they were most interested in learning of sub cultures and smaller communities within the Russian Federation whose existence is lived outside of “traditional” society. Thus the queer community was chosen and the medium of poetry was picked for its ability to liberate. This is an analysis of the works of Queer Russian Poets through the years. It includes one pre-soviet poet who also wrote during the beginning of the Soviet Years, one poet with work in the middle years of the Soviet Regime, and one contemporary poet. This research seeks to discover how literature is used to highlight the voices of a marginalized community.
